Quartz Veterinary Ultrasound is an independent, referral only diagnostic ultrasound service located in Bendigo, Central Victoria.

Sonology is an invaluable diagnostic tool utilising high frequency sound waves to allow insight into the abdomen, thorax and heart. It is a non-painful technique that can be complimentary to many other diagnostic methods such as radiology, CT scans and surgery.

The images obtained can provide essential information for appropriate diagnosis and treatment of many different disease processes and conditions. Common conditions where ultrasound would be beneficial include symptoms such as an unexplained heart murmur, elevated liver, pancreatic or kidney enzymes, chronic vomiting or gastrointestinal symptoms.

Designed as an additional service that veterinarians can offer their clients, patients are required to be under care of their primary clinician. A full report is generated once the day procedure is completed to allow the referring vet to follow up all findings and any fine needle aspirate biopsy and cytology results with the owner themselves, ensuring continuity of care remains with the primary clinician.

Ultrasound can also be used in pregnancy diagnosis and pregnancy scan reports will give an estimated gestational age to determine the most likely time of whelping or queening.
